FLOATING SCHOOL
FLOATING SCHOOL is a new type of school in which everyone is both student and teacher. The idea is to lay the foundation for a non-hierarchical, metaphorically floating platform, where we together discuss and share knowledge and experiences related to diverse topics. FLOATING SCHOOL is a dynamic way of thinking about the roles, space, content and economy and other resources of and in education. In its flexible set up and character, the school is easily scalable, adapts to the spaces, communities and discourses it is embedded in.
This means that FLOATING SCHOOL should operate as a knowledge exchange platform where people interested in organizing a course are able to request funding from MARETOPIA for this course in order to both teach and learn simultaneously. MARETOPIA is currently working on collecting funding for this. Many courses are built on what the participants want to learn and if the knowledge is not in the group guest teachers can be hired from the course’s budget.
We want to experiment and explore, we are always on the road and we trust that chance takes us to places we've never been. FLOATING SCHOOL wants to be a social medium, and you are invited to float with us!
FLOATING SCHOOL was initiated by the artist Jens Evaldsson and curator Sarah Guarino Florén. For more information contact Jens Evaldsson at jens.evaldsson@gmail.com.
